New Bride's First Ramadan Iftar Menu
A perfect and elegant Iftar menu for the first year of marriage. Detailed recipes for Ezogelin soup, baked chicken with béchamel, and strawberry Magnolia.
 
 
Ezogelin Soup (Traditional Red Lentil & Grain Soup)
 
Method: Sauté diced onion in butter and oil. Add 1 tbsp tomato paste. Stir in washed red lentils, rice, and bulgur. Add 6 cups of hot water and simmer for 25 mins. Blend until smooth and top with butter-fried dried mint.
 
 
Baked Chicken with Béchamel Sauce
 
Method: Sauté cubed chicken with bell peppers and onions. Transfer to a baking dish. For the sauce: Make a roux with butter and flour, then whisk in milk until thickened. Pour over the chicken and bake at 180°C. Top with grated cheddar for a golden finish.
 
 
Strawberry Magnolia (The Life-Saver Dessert)
 
 
Method: Cook a silky pudding with milk, flour, starch, and sugar. Layer crushed biscuits, pudding, and fresh strawberries in glass cups. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
